Practical Progress exists to close the gap between political chaos and everyday people. The weekly Power Rankings aren’t about picking winners, they’re a way to cut through noise and surface real, measurable impact in American politics. We spotlight who’s actually moving the needle, not just who’s trending. This project was built for the people who feel disconnected, overwhelmed, or just plain fed up. Because let’s be honest, if shouting “go vote” worked, we wouldn’t still be stuck. Political apathy isn’t just a statistic, it’s a symptom of a system that feels distant and rigged. But giving up guarantees nothing changes. So instead, we’re trying something different. Think of it like this: Tinder didn’t solve dating, but it made it easier to get in the game. That’s what we’re trying to do for civic engagement. Not fix politics overnight, but lower the barrier to entry. Make it feel more transparent, more relatable, maybe even a little entertaining. Because if even 1% of the disassociated start paying attention, start caring, that’s movement and movement is how change starts. If you don’t agree with a ranking, good. That means you’re paying attention. This is here to inform, to engage, and hopefully, to get more people back in the conversation.
